"My friend texted me the link, I tapped my items, and Venmo opened with the exact amount. I didn't need an account or anything. This is how it should have always worked."

Jake T.
@jaket

"We had nachos split 3 ways. The app calculated everyone's exact share automatically. Mind blown."

@priyak

"Finally. No more group chats full of 'wait who had the guac' and 'I think I owe like $23?' This is just clean."

@marcusr

"The host does basically nothing. You scan the receipt, hit send, and everyone sorts themselves out. That's the magic. I've already used it four times this week."

FAQ

Questions

How accurate is the receipt scanning?
+
Extremely. The AI handles faded, crumpled, angled, and low-light receipts well. That said, the brighter and straighter you photograph the receipt, the more accurate it gets. Aim for a top-down shot, as close as possible while still capturing the full receipt — from the restaurant name at the top down to the total. Good lighting helps a lot.
What if the AI gets something wrong?
+
You get full control. After scanning, you see every parsed line item. Tap any item to edit the name or price, or tap "+ Add item" to catch anything missed. Nothing gets shared with your group until you hit "Looks good."
Do my friends need to download an app?
+
No. The link opens in any browser — iPhone, Android, laptop, whatever. No signup, no account. They just tap the items they ordered and pay you on Venmo. That's it.
Who pays the restaurant?
+
You do — whoever scans the receipt becomes "the host." Your friends then pay you back through Venmo. Divvyme doesn't touch any money. It just does the math and opens Venmo with the exact amount pre-filled.
What about tax and tip?
+
Divvyme automatically splits tax and tip proportionally based on what each person ordered. Someone who ordered a $50 steak pays more tax/tip than someone who ordered a $10 salad — the way it should be.
Can we split shared items like appetizers or bottles of wine?
+
Yes. When one person claims a shared item, they can tap "split with others" and pick who's in on it. The app divides that item's cost across everyone who claimed it.
Is this free?
+
Yes, completely free right now. The first 1,000 users get free access for life, even after we roll out premium features.
Do I need to create an account?
+
Only the host needs an account — just an email, no password. This is to authenticate the scan so the experience stays smooth and secure. Your friends don't need an account or anything at all — they just tap the link and go.
Does Divvyme work outside the US?
+
Not yet. Since Divvyme uses Venmo for payments, it's US-only for now. International support is on the roadmap.
